The delightful textures of lizard scales; the delicate lines from the wings of birds and the paperweight lightness of butterflies I used in the central deign, making the Mandala pop with colour.
The strong iconic shapes of elephant tusks give the design structure and holds all the colours in place.
The cymatic patterns of individual tortoise shells are individually painted in, to show how nature creates her innumerable patterns, using vibration, tapping in to the fractals of creation.
My technique here is a smooth layering of two to four coats of acrylic paint, giving it a solid colour finish for good quality Giclée prints.
